Cosco Shipping Car Carriers has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with UECC to improve the supply chain between China and Europe.
The partnership aims to jointly address industry challenges including tight shipping capacity and inefficient regional distribution, while establishing a safer, more efficient, greener and more reliable supply chain for China–Europe automotive logistics.
“Against the backdrop of profound shifts in the European automotive logistics sector, European ports are struggling with infrastructure limitations, inadequate cargo handling, storage and distribution capabilities, and serious congestion.†stated Cosco Shipping Car Carriers.
“Combined with the explosive growth of China’s vehicle exports to Europe, the industry is facing widespread issues such as scarce shipping space, tight scheduling and low vessel turnover efficiency.â€
The two parties plan to create a new seamless intermodal network combining deep-sea transportation and European regional feeder services, enhancing the overall resilience of the supply chain.
Cosco Shipping Car Carriers currently operates a fleet of 31 car carriers. It has launched six international liner routes connecting China with the Middle East, Northwest Europe, Southeast Africa, West Coast of South America, the Mediterranean, and Australia & New Zealand.
Among its fleet, 24 newly built LNG dual-fuel car carriers with a capacity of 7,000–8,600 units are gradually becoming the main force for green transportation on the China–Europe routes.
